Why nutfreed
Life is busy and hard, even without nut allergies. Until you live with a serious allergy, or care for someone with one, most people don’t realise how much time and effort goes into simply staying safe while navigating travel, work, school, and social events.
Nut allergies are the most common cause of fatal anaphylaxis in the UK, affecting 1 in 50 children, and an estimated 1.4% of the population. That may sound small, but amounts to almost 1 million people with nut allergies in the UK alone.
Despite this, nut allergies feel like an afterthought in most places.
Everything our community needs to live every day with confidence: clear information, guides, alerts, trusted nut free products - is scattered, inconsistent, and hard to find.
That’s why we built Nutfreed - because we deserve better.
Allergy yes, limits no.
Our Founders
Nutfreed was built by two people who understand nut allergies from both sides - lived experience and science.
Jack was diagnosed with a severe anaphylactic peanut allergy aged 5. He went on to study Genetics (BSc) and spent a decade in the life sciences industry, driven by a need to understand the condition he'd grown up managing.
Niall studied Bioinformatics (MSc), researching the genetics of health across different populations, before joining the University of Birmingham as a researcher.
Together they bring something unique to the allergy space: the science to know what's accurate, and the lived experience to know what actually matters.
